About MD State Inspections

  • All drivers must receive an inspection certificate to register a vehicle in Maryland.

  • Only licensed Maryland inspection stations can issue inspection certificates.

  • All new residents of Maryland have 60 days to register their vehicles. After 60 days, any tax credit or titling tax paid in another state is forfeit.

  • If you're buying a used vehicle, make sure you get the inspection certificate from the seller. Also, pay attention to when your periodic emissions inspection is due.
